Little Puddle Jumpers

Learning Program 2017-2018

A Learning Program For Kindergarten Readiness

Located in the community of Edgewater

since 1983

CLOSING May 2018

At Little Puddle Jumpers we encourage independence. We offer a variety of chances to succeed. We offer diverse, challenging, creative, age appropriate activities. We promote interaction with peers while teaching fairness and compassion for others.

Our Children

~ develop at their own pace in the style of learning that makes them most comfortable

~ learn to express feelings in a positive way

learn self control and coping skills

Throughout the year, children play and learn basics such as numbers, letters, colors, and shapes. We learn using many hands on activities. Puzzles, board games, matching games, magnetic letters, books, blocks, dress up, play dough, housekeeping and much, much more, help us learn about our world.

Sign language, story time, computers, nursery rhymes, music, art, cooking, safety, and fun projects make this a well-rounded program your child will love to be a part of.

Little Puddle Jumpers Pre-K Program promotes Kindergarten readiness skills, helping to ensure a smooth transition to Kindergarten. Children who are provided with quality Preschool experiences are better prepared and make an easier transition.

Preparation means that children have a positive attitude about school. They have developed gross and fine motor skills. They have good social skills and are emotionally stable. Children then approach learning enthusiastically. They have cognitive knowledge of people, concepts and convictions.

When asked about readiness skills, Kindergarten teachers stress nonacademic skills which include

~ following directions

~ communicating with others

~excited and curious about learning

~ sensitive to others needs and feelings

~taking turns and sharing

At Little Puddle Jumpers PreK students work to

~ fine tune their ability to recognize colors, color words, numbers, number words, and shapes

learn letter recognition, letter sounds, sight words and reading readiness skills

~ begin letter formation and handwriting skills

~ increase attention span and focus

learn to follow and to understand basic directions

work within a group environment

work independently
